What a Weekend!!

I had a huge weekend!!  Saturday I got to go to the Winter Park Farmer's Market.  We had such a great time.  The weather was so beautiful.  I got to meet a lot of people but I stuck really close to ML the whole time.  MJ was there but she had to run up and take another little dog to join up with his new adoptive parents.  I've been talking to MJ trying to convince her to do something for all us little dogs and I think I made my point while we were at the farmer's market.  You see I got really hungry while we were there and she couldn't get anything for me.  They had plenty of people treats etc. but no puppy treats.  Well there were some but they were commercial not organic or even very interesting.  So stay tuned for an update on how she wants us to approach the challenge.

On Sunday, we headed out to the Orlando Pride event.  I went as the mascot for Florida Little Dog Rescue.  I am basically the poster child for them as you all know my story.  We again met so many wonderful people.  Families were there together adopting puppies.  It was amazing, there were 8 dogs adopted and we were all so surprised at the turn out and the support for the rescue.  I didn't stay around for the fireworks because they are just too loud, but I did stay around all day.  As soon as MJ gets the pics from the even I will make sure they are posted.

hugs and kisses Faitherzzz

ps. keep MJ's friends Tim and Michelle in your prayers.  Tim has just been moved hospice.  He saved MJ's son M when he was 3 and almost drowned.  We all have known him for a very long time and miss his day to day involvement in our lives.

A Day in the Life.....

It was a rare cool and clear day in Central Florida when a great dane, a poodle and a yorkie jumped into a a car.  The yorkie turned to the great dane to let him know he was the one in charge....Wait did you think this  was a joke? No this is the day in the life of an animal rescue volunteer.  I love being a rescue dog and I love all my mommies at FLDR.  It is so funny to hear the "tails" of what occurs day in and day out.  Can you imagine a great dane in the back seat of a car with a yorkie and the poodle in the front seat? Better yet I heard the that great dane kept his head out the window the whole time.  When he shook his head at one point MJ said the smart car behind them had to use its wind shield wipers. LOL...

Happy Day After Halloween Everyone!!

Hi Everyone, yesterday was THE BEST.....all the dogs at my foster house dressed up for Halloween.  We didn't go trick or treating but we did have a blast hanging out together.  We had a vampire princess, a hot dog, a fairy princess, a ballerina, a pirate (me), an angel, and a football player.  I think we have pictures so I'll put them out on the blog for all to see.

Today was a day to recover we all sat around and rested after our big day.  But after it cleared up and cooled down we were ready to roll once again.  Most of the afternoon was spent outside after MJ got back from running out to Polk County and the Vet with ML.  We smelled at least 6 new dogs on MJ when she got home so keep an eye on that website I know they will be out there soon.

MJ uploaded a video of me to show you guys how much fun we were having today.

I'm Back!!

Sorry It has been so long since my last post.  It has just been busy busy busy....

Yesterday I rode out to Fort Wilderness for a costume contest and parade.  I dressed as a Pirate for this one.  It was a lot of fun, I met a ton of people, got my picture taken and got to see a lot of other dogs.  There were some really good costumes and some even included their people as a part of the costume.  It gave me lots of ideas for next year!!  It's going to be a surprise though because MJ says its going to take a lot of effort to get us all ready.  We will take this thing!! prizes, hearts and fans bahahahaaa (my evil laugh)

I had the best chicken soup with everyone, three bowls in fact...ML made it for me and I shared with everyone that was out there with us.

ML's Chicken Soup

3 Super Huge Boneless Chicken Breasts
2 Cans of Baby Sweet Carrots
1 Large Onion Chopped
2 Hearts of Celery Chopped
Top with Water to cover

Place all the above ingredients in a crock pot and place on High then take your furry friend for a run in the dog park.  Make sure you salt and pepper to taste.

Other ideas for seasoning would be:  lemon pepper, italian seasoning, thyme, or herbs de provence.
Other ideas for veggies would be to add leeks or replace onion with leeks
Other ideas for bulk serve over rice or noodles

Whatever strikes your fancy...no matter the base recipe is YUMMY!!  I licked it all up! <3

Look At Me

Look at me I got my hair did today at Top Knots Grooming.  They were so sweet to me, Kristi and Erica, told MJ I was a very good client.  I have a cute little Halloween bandana around my neck instead of one of the silly bows MJ keeps trying to get me to wear.  I wanted to make sure you all saw just how bootiful I am, plus I'm soft and smell sooooooooo good !!!!

Fantastic Friday

She did just tell me I'm off to the groomer, dang it, I have to get my hair did.  So stay tuned I'm sure there will be a picture later : )

Me and all my furry friends hung out and slept today.  It was such a great day for that.  Fuzzy blankie, soft pillow and some zzzzzz's.

Congrats to Caity on her debut tonight.  She was excellent in her role.

Julia is back at school in between the rain drops.  She took Matthew with her so its really quiet around here.  They will be back on Thursday for the birthday weekend!!!  It's MJ's and Brooke's next.

It's Matthew's Birthday

Guess what everyone it is Matthew's birthday today.  He's 15 and soooooo tall, we found out he's 6'2" now.  MJ says he's going to keep growing for awhile so who knows how tall he will be???  We had a fun day, I woke him up with lots of kisses but waited until close to noon since that would be mean otherwise.  MJ made the come pie as promised and they went like hot cakes.  Today was so much better than Bingo they got almost 5000 tickets at Dave and Busters.  This was Brooke's gift to Matthew which he thought was the best.  At least I got to chase him all around before they went to play so I know he was happy today.

My cold is all gone now and my tummy is all better.  MJ is keeping up with my eyes which tear so much I have to have medicine every day now.  The puppies that are here with me are motoring all over the place so I have to sleep with one eye open or they can attack at any moment.  They mean it in good fun but sheesh a girl's got to get some beauty sleep now and again.   It's late now so I'm going to curl up and get some shut eye now.

Hey its me Faitherz

This weekend marks the beginning of the Holiday season in the household.  Thank heavens I am feeling sooooooo much better.  I think I'm even back to my old self, because MJ's family has a ton of b day's starting on Monday.  Fall Fest typically falls on the weekend that starts the "season".  While no one did well at bingo last night from our house, some of our friends won like 4 times and it was one of their b day's so that's ok too.  We have a grill out tonight and an adoption tomorrow then yay it's M's bday.  Today I'm helping MJ make coma pie for the grill out/slash M's bday dessert.

Coma Pie

1 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (Just use the one that comes in the tub or tube ready made)
1 jar creamy peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tablespoon water
1 package chocolate chips

In a baking pan spray and press in the cookie dough.  Bake according to directions.  Once done let cool.  Next cream peanut butter, powdered sugar and water together into a smooth fudge like consistency.  You may need to add a touch more water to maintain creamy texture.  Be careful with the water level.  Spread peanut butter fudge over top of cookie dough.  Next melt chocolate chips in the microwave.  Do not over cook or it will seize.  Stir chocolate and spread over top of the peanut butter layer.  Cover and place in the refrigerator to set.

To serve slice in small pieces, this is a very rich and totally yummy treat.

Today we are mixing it up a little on this recipe we are going to make individual coma pies in a cupcake pan.  When the basic recipe is complete and ready we are going to decorate it in Halloween colors and decorations.  Will post a pic when we are done.

FALL FEST

Fall Fest begins tonight!!  Can't wait to get out and play some Bingo!!  With my luck we should be rolling in the puppy chow shortly after night fall.  I don't think I'll be riding any rides though, probably not the best idea on my delicate little stomach. >^._-^<  If we get any good pictures I'll post them later.  Otherwise its been a slow day, I've been resting up for all the excitement at Fall Fest.

p.s. Julia, my older sis, is home from school.  She's feeling better!!

Faithy's Weeky Chicken

LEEK-Y CHICKEN AND COUSCOUS

AKA FAITH'S WEEKY CHICKEN

  • 4 SERVINGS
  • PREP 10 MIN
  • COOK 20 MIN
102030

INGREDIENTS

  • 1-1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • MJ uses olive oil to be healthier

  • 1/4 cup golden raisins (a couple of handfuls), chopped
  • (MJ uses dried cranberries or dried cherries because she doesn't like raisins)
    2 tablespoons
extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO), 2 turns of the pan1-1/2 cups
plain couscous(MJ uses orzo sometimes.  Use whichever you like best just make sure you follow the package instructions and go with al dente)

  • 1-1/2 pounds chicken tenders, cut into bite-size pieces
  • (MJ uses rotisserie chicken sometimes when she is in a hurry to get dinner out and on the table)

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

  • 2 medium leeks or 1 large leek

  • 1 cup dry white wine (eyeball it—about a third of a bottle)
  • (this is optional according to MJ.  she's the only one that likes wine so it gets left out in our house)

  • Flat-leaf parsley, chopped (about a handful)
  • (this is if you are feeling fancy you won't know the difference without it.
  1. Heat the chicken broth and the butter in a medium saucepan.

(Use a pan with a tight-fitting lid.) When the broth boils, add the raisins

and the couscous. Take the saucepan off the heat. Stir the couscous

and place the lid on the pan. Let stand.

In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the EVOO,
2 turns of the pan. Add the chicken in a single layer, season
with salt and pepper, and cook, turning occasionally,
until browned all over, 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. While the chicken works, trim the tough tops and root ends from the leeks.
Cut the remaining white and tender green parts in half lengthwise,
then cut the leeks into 1-inch half-moons. Place the leeks in a colander
and run cold water over them. Separate the layers to release the dirt and grit.
Rinse the leeks well, then drain.
  3. Stir the leeks into the chicken and wilt for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the wine and let it cook down by half, 3 to 4 minutes.
The leeks should be tender, with some bright green color,
and the chicken should be cooked through.
  4. Fluff the couscous with a fork and stir in the parsley.
Spoon a bed of couscous onto dinner plates and top with the chicken and leeks.
Everyone in our house loves this recipe it is a staple, but as you can tell
MJ doesn't follow directions well.  She just reads the recipe and then goes
her own way.  If you aren't adventurous stick to the original recipe if you
want to walk without a "leash" go her way.   I'm sure it will be yummy either way.

p.s. this is what we are having for dinner tonight....yummo!!

Orlando Pride Take Two

This in from Laurie at FLDR, Orlando Pride has been rescheduled to November 13th, at Lake Eola.  Stay tuned to the FLDR website for all the details.

Check In New Friend

MJ brought home a new friend who is here for a long weekend.  I think she's a foreign exchange puppy.  We all ran up to meet her and she didn't have anything to say.  Since she is apparently shy she is following MJ like a shadow.  I asked if she was staying long enough to be a part of MJ's costume- "The Shadow".  She said no.  I think she should be Nicella Deville instead of Cruella because she didn't have to steal us we like staying here.  Anyway, I digress, so we all went night night and our new friend Lollie did find a comfy spot but wanted to be left alone by all of us.

As of this morning, still not a peep out of her.  We have all taken turns and asking:

¿Habla usted español
Parlez-vous français
Sprechen Sie Deutsch

Nothing yet.  Any ideas?  I'm beginning to think she's just messing with us and is being careful about who she hangs out with.  She is a very discerning pup from what I can tell.  For example, we all just had breakfast and then went outside.  She waited for the gang to go out before she ate and then waited for us to come back in so she could go outside.  Geesh, that is just too high maintenance if you ask me.

I'll keep you posted on how our weekend goes.  I'll get through to her, I get through to everyone!!  >^._.^<

Waggin' Wednesday

Good news, my sneezing is getting better I think that my cold is going away.  I don't like being sick I get stuck laying around and can't play with my friends.  MJ hasn't let me get near the puppies that are staying with us either.  She says they might get sick and since we don't have puppy purell I have to lay back and just watch them play.  Soon though I will be in there with the best of them.  In the meantime, I'm watching 102 Dalmations, Beethoven and CatDog.

Faith's Chicken Noo Noo Soup

MJ makes soup for everyone including me when they are sick.  Here is my recipe that is easy peasy that I share with everyone in the house.

1 32 oz container chicken broth
1 medium sweet onion
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 half bag frozen tender baby peas
1 can sliced carrots
1 teaspoon minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
1 Rotisserie Chicken
1 bag No Yolks Noodles

Slice onion and cook until tender  using olive oil.  Add in minced garlic, salt, and pepper.  Pour in peas and carrots to heat through.  Meanwhile, pull chicken off the bone and shred.  Place into the pot with all other ingredients.  Pour chicken broth over mixture and bring to a low boil on medium heat.   In a separate pot, follow package instructions on noodles to just under al dente and once done mix into soup.  Check seasoning and serve.  If this isn't enough make more!!!

Side note:  Publix brand items are all good for this recipe.  The rotisserie chicken can be any of your favorite flavors.  Sometimes instead of No Yolks MJ uses spaghetti noodles.

I don't like a lot of salt so MJ lays off of that when I'm eating.

On The Mend

Hi everyone its me Faitherz.  I wanted everyone to know that I did lay low today and I got plenty of rest.  I'm on meds for my eyes this week and had a second dose.  I'll be honest I HATE anyone messing with my face let alone to put drops in my eyes, but don't you think I have a right?  I mean did you see my pictures when I first came in the Animal Control?  Geez it was awful.  Anyway, don't tell MJ but I fought her a little bit tonight because I know, and shhhh I really mean don't tell her, if I fight and she wins I get a treat.   Ree Hee Hee.....  I will admit my eyes do feel better.  My cold is still hanging on but don't they say 3 days and back on track?  In the meantime, I get chicken noodle soup, treats and lots and lots of hugs!!!  I love hugs!!!  That's probably how I got the cold in the first place.

So I'm here laying on MJ's favorite fuzzy blanket taking it easy.  I'll keep you all posted.  I hear my human foster sister is sick up at school and is coming home too.  I'll share the blanket with her and she will have to share her soup but all is good.

Faith's Pupper Pops

Here it is as I promised.  MJ made these for me today.

1 32 ounce vanilla yogurt (MJ likes to use Stonyfield)
1 cup all natural peanut butter (organic ideally)

Mix these two ingredients together and place in either ice cube trays for smaller pops or popsicle molds for larger pops.  As a special treat for me she puts my spiral chewy rawhide treats in the middle to freeze as a stick.

Monday Monday Monday

Happy Columbus Day!!!

I have good news about my friend Lyla, she got adopted this morning.  She has a great new family that will love her and hug her and make her a happy pup.

After MJ took Lyla to her new family she came home and took me to the vet.  You can see pictures and the story to the left of this post.  The good news is I'm going to be fine, just a little cold and some eye ickiness. Dr. Fink fixed me right up and I'm at home resting now.

MJ is going to make a special treat for me since my throat is a little scratchy too.  Once she's done I'll put the recipe out here for you and your pups.

Rainy Sunday

Hi its me Faith; does anyone know that I like to help cook?  MJ sets up a chair for me in the kitchen and we can make stuff.  She likes to cook but don't worry I don't put my paws in any pots etc.  So since it's so rainy today we decided it was a great day for soup and salad.  MJ makes the best pasta fagoli...here's her recipe:

MJ's PASTA FAGOLI

Pre cook package of Ditalini Pasta shells

1 pound ground beef
1 med onion finely chopped
2 garlic gloves (or 1 tbsp minced garlic)
2 C water
2 C beef broth/stock
1 15 oz can petite diced tomatoes
1 7 oz can tomatoe sauce
1 jar Spaghetti Sauce, your favorite flavor
1 tsp Tabasco, as desired
2 tsp Oregano
1 tsp pepper
1 can Cannellini beans
1 can light red kidney beans
1 can dark red kidney beans, MJ skips these now and just uses and extra can of light red or cannellini for a milder taste

Brown ground beef, onion and garlic
Add water, beef stock, diced tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, entire jar of spag sauce, Tabasco, oregano, pepper and cook to a simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Add all 3 cans of beans and simmer for another 10 minutes (until beans are warmed) and serve over Ditalini Pasta.  Don't mix in the pasta even to store because the pasta will absorb all the broth and get mushy

MJ serves this with salad and garlic bread just like at Olive Garden.  Since I can't go there I like this so much better!!  <3 <3

Orlando Pride Event

I was scheduled to attend the Orlando Pride Event with Florida Little Dog Rescue(FLDR) downtown yesterday.  I packed up my goodies and put on my Halloween tutu and off we went.  Unfortunately for everyone the Event was cancelled due to lots of rain and wind.  Instead everyone with FLDR set up shop at All Creatures grooming on South Street.  We had lots of fun hanging out together.  I got to meet more people and many furry friends while at the groomers.  My close friend Leah and new friend Weezy even got adopted while we were there.  It was so cool, here we were all soaked sitting around on the floor and in walks a new mommy and brothers.

Later in the day I got to go over and see my first foster mommies, Jenn and Maryann.  I gave them many kisses before hanging out and playing with their little puppies:  Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles.  Jenn even played fetch with me and shared chewy bones which are totally my fav.

My current foster mom, Jan or MJ I like to call her says that we are going to get to go to Orlando Pride again when the rain stops. Until then I'm supposed to rest up.  It's really tough being a celebrity.  The puparrazzi are the worst...I always have to be at my best as those shudder bugs are constantly clicking away.  So if I rest my eyes and coat with be shiny and ready for the catwalk, reehee...
